no child belongs to their parents

if anything, it is parents that belong to their children

so my son is not mine

I am his, even before he came to this world

even though he might see me as the one to look up to

I am the one who looks at him in awe in all my vulnerability

and with all my strength I'll be by his side for as long as the breathing is in me

I am his, not because I'm a good dad

but because there's nothing I can do about it.

I am his without defense

servant of a greater intelligence that is not for me or any of us to make

but only to live to the fullest

and this is all I know about being a dad.
